SIOM will be declaring its first waitlist movement today. This waitlist will not result in any significant movement in waitlist movement of other colleges. As a matter of fact not much movement is accepted in SIOM's waitlist as well primarily because of the fact that most of the colleges known for Operations Management specialisation are yet to come out with their final list. Nevertheless, whatever little movement is there, it is bound to bring smile to a few faces.
Apparently the list is available now. Those who were waitlisted can correct me if I am wrong.

Narsee monjee has declared final admission results for batch 2008-2010. Results can be accessed from this link.As expected people with higher ranks have managed to get calls, largely because of the admission process tilted heavily in favour of written text marks. I think NMIMS should have managed NMAT 2007 in a better way because they knew the importance of writtens. My center was a horror story, The invigilator had no idea about OMR sheets he very conveniently distributed question papers before the OMR sheet and took the paper couple of minutes before the scheduled time. No, this is not a ' sour grapes' post, but a humble request to all esteemed institutions to attend their own 2008~2010 programme and learn or re-learn a few tricks of operations management. Perhaps, thats the only hope aspirants will have while sitting for NMAT 2008, FMS 2009, IIFT 2008 and IRMA 2008.
By the way no body beats FMS in exam mis-management.
if you are a regular reader and are wondering what has happened to this blog. Lot of results have been declared in past few days. SCMHRD came out with waitlist confirmations, IIFT declared admissions 2008 final results and XIME too declared their list. But the blog was not updated. It just so happened that I was and still am confused about which institute to go for. I have SIIB final call and am hoping to convert IITR and GIM. I personally don't think there is much to chose between these three but I can go for only one ( provided I have the luxury of choosing between the three). This has kept me occupied and I still looking for solutions. If you have any suggestion , comments are open..
SIIB finally declared results yesterday. They did hold on to Symbi tradition of giving some anxious moments to students though but they were no where closer to the SIBM GD PI result declaration shocker. I am one of the fortunate 71 who are busy arranging 130K for the first installment. But there are a lot more fellow aspirants who will be having some anxious and nervous days ahead because their fate will be clear only on the 17th when the first shortlist will be declared. SIIB last year declared four shortlists and waitlist 109 got an opportunity to join SIIB for 2007~2009.
Pradeep, a PG user, used google docs spreadhsheet form utility to create a survey for SCMHRD waitlist movement. taking some inspiration from him, I have created a simmilar sheet for SIIB waitlist movement.
SIIB waitlist survey can be taken here.

Tim berners lee, the guy who is called father of internet recently talked about a concept called GGG. GGG is nothing but some technical jargon for user created content. Internet as we know today is by and large a publishers medium but things are changing fast and Sir Tim berners Lee has predicted that web3.0 will be about user content being the king. Same is proved by coming of age of platforms like wordpress, twitter, pownce etc. So how does all this relate to SCMHRD waitlist for admissions 2008?
Well, a PG user pradeep [ pradeep.mats on PG] has created this page wherein he is asking SCMHRD converts and waitlisters to rate their chances of finally joining SCMHRD for 2008-2010. There are about 15 responses as of now and I am sure lot of SCMHRD converts and waitlisters are going to come forward and fill this survey here.

Hats off pradeep!!
LIBA's shortlist is out. The list is available on LIBA's campus notice board and it will take a while (another hour or so) before the list is uploaded at this link. however, going by the scores of people who are through, the cut off percentile could be between 92 and 93. thats just a speculation, actual picture will be clear only when the scores are available on liba.sify.net.
Best of luck!!

After a week long traveling schedule I came back to delhi today. The whole journey was too adventurous for comfort. I also went to my college in Nagpur and was amazed when people recognized me.
First thing that I did after coming back was to search Google for “siib final list” and was guided to this page. The page, obviously displays final results for admissions 2007 and not for admissions 2008 but curiosity got the better of me and I submitted my snap id for final results. I was shocked when I saw my name and my GD no on the results page. Shocker didn’t end there, the result had “Not Selected” written on it.

IMT Nagpur and IIT roorkee have released their shortlists for GD PI Process for admissions 2008. IIT roorkee’s GD PI shortlist is available at this link. I had a word with IIT roorkee people and the person on phone told me that reporting time for GD PI will be 8:30 am.
IMT Nagpur’s cutoff seems to be 80.xx %ile. This is a bit alarming, considering that normally tier III institutes go down to that percentile levels. That said, IMT nagpur sure has a lot going for it and I hope, they manage to sort out their placements. IMT Nagpur and IMT ghaziabiad’s shortlist are available at IMT’s website.
MBA exams in India have become one of the greatest money spinners. Each exam makes the conducting body richer by figures running in Crores, thats a handsome amount by any standard. One exception to this whole exercise of using these exams for generating revenues is JMET. JMET is the only exam where you need to take the exam first and then apply to the associate institutes. This not only cuts down the number of applications received by the institute but it also means candidates do not end up spending thousands on speculative applications.
Many institutes see there high application fees as a tool to ward off speculative applicants. But, In my view all these institutes would do good if they just make their selection policies public. No one knows how people at SP Jain are shortlisted or how SCMHRD shortlists or for that matter, how SIOM came with its shortlist this year around. SP Jain and SCMHRD at least had a very elaborative form for giving out profile based calls but for geniuses at SIOM two lines of accomplishments were good enough to call spade a spade. SIOM receives just 2000 applications doesn't really corroborate the money making theory but the shortlist was unjustified anyways. All these institutes do not conduct the exam and yet they charge you a thousand bucks per application and one would think that major cost would be in conducting the exam and not shortlisting the candidates. Worst part is that not much can be done about it because no institute is forcing you to apply. Isnt this typical of a monopoly?
