Over the years symbiosis university has had a lot of buisness ideas. One of them was starting a B - School which imparts specialisation in Telecom management. Atleast, I dont know about any other institutte which offers such a course. (In case you know, do drop a line) But looking at the placement trends I dont think this is one idea which has lived up to the expetations. The following graphic gives you a much better idea about what I am tryin to say.
On stand alone basis these numbers are not all that bad. But a quick comparision of these numbers with that of newer B schools of SIU will put things in perspective. Both SIIB and SIOM are newer colleges and are performing exceptionally well. But there is a silver lining as far as SITM is concerned.Look at the trends for last three years, average salary has been growing at a steady pace. Maximum salaries have increased from 6.6 (Class of 2006) to 7.5 lakhs (Class of 2007) p.a. to 9.0 Lakhs p.a. for class of 2008.

You will be glad to know that this year too we have achieved 100% placement. Infact our placement was over on DAY ZERO that is on 10th december 2007. The average pay package was 6.7 lacs pa and highest salary offered was 9.0 lacs pa. The esteemed recruiters included Virgin Mobile, IBM, Wipro Technologies, Voda Phone, Ernst & Young, Infosys, Sify, VSNl, HCL Technologies to name of few.

Almost every company worth its salt in telecom sector visits SITM.
And considering the flood of new entrants in the sector overall
performance of SITM pass outs should get better.
