With retail and manufacturing boom hitting India all of a sudden there was shortage of skilled managers in this domain. This shortage formed the very basis of SIOM's vision. SIOM was established in year 2005 with a vision to prepare operations manager who had in depth knowledge of managing logistics and enhancing productivity. First batch of SIOM passed out in year 2007 and boy what response did they get from industry. The sectrol split below shows how industry opened its gates for this batch.

In terms of package class of 2007 got a median salary of 5.5 lakhs which is not bad considering it was just the first batch. Next bacth got even better response. Highest salray rose 20% and median also saw a 15% increase. More importantly the average salary also rose close to 20% indicating the overall and more spread out rise in salary packages. This link has some indepth analysis of placement trends.
Of all the B schools that I have come across, SIOM is probably the only one which is so transparent as far as placements are concerned. This gives a lot more credibility to SIOM's claims. Considering, only two batches have passed out and we are already seeing some good profiles and fat pay packages is testimony to the fact that NITIE's or SP Jains or IIM's dominance in operations arena is seriously under threat.
Note : -SIOM's GD PI shortlist for year 2008 is expected on 28th. The cutoffs are much much lower as compared to some of the premier colleges, but then the college is for engineer's only.
