Get Firefox

I was just going through the visitor stats for this blog and I realised that about 80% of my visitors are using MS Internet Explorer.
Guys, what are you upto? MS IE is bad, awful, unstable and unreliable. IE is pakistan of Internet, breeding ground for new worms, viruses, trojans. Just get rid of Internet Explorer and go for Firefox.

Get Firefox

Do you know, if you are using firefox, you dont need any other software to do the following,
1. FTP uploads are possible from firefox
2. You can visit restricted websites through firefox.
3. You can send twitter updates from within firefox.
4. You can download torrents from firefox.
5. Blog directly from Firefox.

List is virtuallly endless. Go, get firefox and explore for yourself.

Getting rid of windows is easier than you think. Support Open Source Software. Get Ubuntu. This is how my Desktop looks with ubuntu

Winrar in Ubuntu

winrar, a popular compression software, is not available on linux.Although, a command line variant is available, but, if you are as lazy as i am then you would not like to type 5 commands to unrar a file. fortunately, there is a workaround, which is as simple as 123
1. Download winrar from rarlabs website. Uncompress the downloaded file
2. Install xArchiver from Synaptic Package Manager
3. log in as root and run this command

cp /location of unzipped files/rar /usr/bin/
cp /location of unzipped files/unrar /usr/bin/

Yipee!

Want some Wine?

if you are in linux, chances are your answer will be affirmative.

Wine is an application which runs in linux and fools around with all those stupid windows msi's. It gives them a native windows environment, so that you can install some really 'cant do without' windows apps. Moreover, wine helps you use same emule and utorrent settings in windows and ubuntu.

i am so happy. i am finally steering myself away from microsoft monopoly. yipee!!!

It is amazing how web is changing the conventional learning system and how it is fast changing the idea of democracy. Wikipedia started this goldrush where in "We the people" were given the power to write history, the way we see it. Then came lot of websites which further finetuned or tweaked this concept, yahoo! answers, google scholars etc.
And now we have scribd.com. An amazing site with breathtaking documents on anything, absolutely anything, from basic DIY guides to complex scientific research material. You name it they have it. Hats off to the promoters.
